On 19 June, a modern production automation laboratory was inaugurated at the Education and Research Institute “Ukrainian Engineering and Pedagogical Academy” of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. The event was held as part of a large-scale project of the World Bank together with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine aimed at modernising higher education and improving the material and technical base of universities.
Representatives of the ERI “UEPA” took an active part in the opening of the laboratory, which became the next stage in the implementation of a practice-oriented approach to training. The new space is outfitted with equipment from the leading German company Festo, including a training stand for electro-pneumatics, a packaging station based on Siemens controllers, 3D printers and modelling modules.
This will allow the students of the ERI “UEPA” to effectively master the educational programmes of technical direction - Automation and Computer-Integrated Technologies, Industrial Engineering, Electricity, Electrical Engineering and Electromechanics. It is especially important that the training will take place offline in a safe space.
In addition, the teachers of our institute have already completed a number of certified trainings on the new equipment, and the final stage of training is scheduled for August. The laboratory also serves as a career guidance centre. It hosts the Karazin 3D Model project, a 3D modelling school for schoolchildren and adults, where participants create and print their own models.
The ERI “UEPA” continues to develop the modern technical environment at the university and to form competent specialists who are ready for the challenges of the modern industry.
