On May 7, 2025, at the ERI “Ukrainian Engineering and Pedagogical Academy” the Department of Marketing and Commercial Business held a lecture on the course ‘European experience of examination of goods in customs affairs’ within the ERASMUS-JMO-2023-HEI-TCH-RSCH project "European concept of dynamic regulation and coordination of examination of goods in customs affairs" (EDETMS) on the topic ‘Counterfeiting of goods. Types and means of counterfeiting in European countries’ with the participation of representatives of Kharkiv Customs.

Deputy Director of the ERI “Ukrainian Engineering and Pedagogical Academy" of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Serhii PETROV and Acting Head of the Department of Marketing and Commercial Business, Doctor of Economics, Professor Viktoriia CHOBITOK welcomed the guests. 

Kateryna HUNKO, Head of the Human Resources Department, Customs Advisor of the First Rank, Ph.D. in Economics, spoke about the basics of goods falsification, its types and methods used in European countries, and also focused on the protection of intellectual property rights. She explained the procedures for suspending the customs clearance of goods based on the customs register data, as well as the procedure for interaction between the customs authorities and right holders, declarants, etc. Special attention was paid to the latest amendments to the Customs Code of Ukraine, which suspend the registration of intellectual property rights in respect of goods related to citizens or legal entities for the period of martial law.

Ruslan MOROZ, Acting First Deputy Head of Kharkiv Customs, Customs Service Advisor of the First Rank, introduced the students to the main areas of work of the customs authorities in the field of combating smuggling and violations of customs rules. Drawing on his extensive practical experience, he spoke about the detection of smuggled goods and caches used to move them. He supplemented his lecture with a demonstration of photographs illustrating high-profile cases of smuggling detection in the area of Kharkiv Customs.
