Training for peace education trainers within the "Introduction to Peace Education Studies for Early Career Researchers” under the AURORA programme at Palacký University Olomouc (Czech Republic)

 

Representatives of the Education and Research Institute "Ukrainian Engineering and Pedagogical Academy” as part of the team of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University took part in a five-day international week dedicated to Peace Education and Peace Building talks for teachers and researchers on the topic "Introduction to Peace Education Studies for Early Career Researchers” under the ERASMUS+ AURORA Alliance programme at Palacký University Olomouc (Olomouc, Czech Republic).
The training was held in a mixed format from 21 to 25 April 2025, with some representatives studying directly at Palacký University Olomouc and other representatives joining the training online.

Hanna Hrynchenko, Associate Professor of the Department of Automation, Metrology and Energy Efficient Technologies, was in the Czech Republic on behalf of the ERI “UEPA”, while Oleksandr BAZHENOV, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Practical Psychology, and Borys Hill, Assistant Professor of the Department of Marketing and Commercial Business, studied online.
The AURORA programme is a "Training of Trainers” in peace education with a focus on theoretical perspectives, research methodologies and ethics surrounding contemporary peace education. The AURORA Peace Education Programme discussed and sought answers to the challenges that are already emerging in the context of military conflict, namely the importance of peacebuilding through educational initiatives, the issue of collective trauma, promoting post-conflict recovery and the role of the university in this, and long-term prospects for peacebuilding.

The training was held in a hybrid format, during which the Programme's trainers: Selma Porobic, Juliet Millican, Gabriella Capec shared their experience in post-war recovery; raised important issues of ethics, research and analysis of the experience of other countries in the transfer of peacekeeping education.
Particular attention was paid to the importance of mental health, psychological support for both students and teachers/researchers, work with post-traumatic issues, and even the issue of linguistics in peace education.
At the end of the training, all participants received certificates.
