The two-day in-person training “Development of Teacher's Professional Identity as a Response to Social Transformations” from the ERI “Teachers` Academy” of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University was held in Kyiv on April 4-5.
The training was aimed at developing teachers' skills, understanding the new approach to teaching, and joining the NUS (New Ukrainian School).
The students had the opportunity to learn:
1. What is the professional identity of a teacher.
2. How to organise an inclusive environment in education.
3. What is a teacher's personal brand and how to develop it.
4. How to provide first prychological aid to students.
5. What are Scafford cards for and how to work with them.
6. What is national identity and family history and where to look for your roots.
Each session included not only a theoretical but also a practical block, where each topic was analysed in more detail.
The cultural programme of the in-person training for our students was no less intense.
A walking tour of Kyiv with Ruslan Kutsyk, Candidate of Historical Sciences, was a great opportunity to learn about the history of the capital. A walk around the city allowed us to see historical monuments and learn more about the significant events of our country. "The Wave” performance, based on the novel of the same name by Todd Strasser, at the Lesya Ukrainka National Academic Drama Theatre was the culmination of the evening. This is a story about the fine line between influence and pressure, choice and imitation, freedom and submission, and the responsibility of a teacher to his or her students. An impressive story that makes you think and leaves no one indifferent.
P.S.: We thank Musafir for the hospitality and the opportunity to enjoy traditional Crimean Tatar cuisine.
The administration and students of the ERI “UEPA” express their gratitude to the organisers and speakers of the event and the ERI “Teachers` Academy” of Karazin University for the opportunity to join such trainings, gain knowledge in person and the latest approach to learning!
