The III International Scientific and Practical Conference “Management of Economic Environment Development in the Context of Global Transformations” was held at the ERI “UEPA” of Karazin University

 

On 6 February 2025, Karazin University hosted the Plenary Session of the III International Scientific and Practical Conference “Management of Economic Environment Development in the Context of Global Transformations”. The conference was organised by the Department of Economics and Management of the Education and Research Institute “Ukrainian Engineering Pedagogics Academy”.

The event brought together leading scientists, experts, representatives of business and government organisations to discuss current challenges of the global and national economy. More than 200 scientists from various Ukrainian higher education institutions registered to participate in the conference.

The welcoming speech of Tetiana KAHANOVSKA, rector of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Doctor of Law, Professor, Honoured Lawyer of Ukraine, was announced to the participants by Viktoriia PROKHOROVA, professor, Head of the Department of Economics and Management at the ERI “Ukrainian Engineering Pedagogics Academy”. In her welcoming speech, Tetiana Kahanovska emphasised the importance of integrating science, education and business to create effective economic strategies in the current environment.

The plenary session featured detailed research and analytical overviews of current economic trends.

Olha SHAMAIEVA, Deputy Director of the Department of Economics and International Relations of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, revealed the peculiarities of the current regional planning system, emphasising the need for a flexible approach to the development of strategic documents for regional development. She emphasised that in the context of military and post-war transformations, regional policy should focus not only on overcoming the consequences of the crisis, but also on creating the preconditions for sustainable economic growth. Particular attention was paid to the importance of attracting investment, using modern digital technologies in the planning process, and approaches to integrating regional strategies into the national economic development system, which will allow for a more effective response to the challenges of global instability.

Olena AREFIEVA, Doctor of Economics, Professor at the Kyiv Aviation Institute, presented a thorough analysis of national economic trends and their impact on the Ukrainian higher education system. In her report, she focused on the need to transform educational programmes in line with changes in the labour market caused by rapid technological development, globalisation and structural changes in the economy. Particular attention was paid to the introduction of digital competencies in educational processes, as the development of artificial intelligence, automation and digital solutions radically changes the requirements for training future professionals and the importance of partnerships between educational institutions, businesses and government agencies to ensure the adaptability of educational programmes and increase the competitiveness of graduates in the global labour market.

The issue of decarbonisation and eco-modernisation of Ukraine's energy sector in the post-war period is one of the key issues in the process of sustainable economic development, especially in the context of European integration and global climate change challenges. Liliana HORAL, Doctor of Economics, Professor at Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas, analysed in detail the prospects for the ecological transformation of the energy sector, drawing attention to the need for an optimal balance between the modernisation of existing facilities and the introduction of renewable energy sources. The speaker emphasised the importance of strategic planning and investment in green energy as an important factor in enhancing Ukraine's energy security and independence, and reviewed examples of successful adaptation of global practices to national conditions.

Vitalina BABENKO, Doctor of Economics, Professor of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, presented the opportunities and prospects for Ukrainian scientists to participate in the programmes of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, emphasising the importance of international integration in research and development. She focused on the potential benefits of participating in grant initiatives and partnership projects that open up new horizons for commercialising scientific developments and attracting investment. She also emphasised the need for Ukrainian universities to actively cooperate with European research centres to create a sustainable innovation ecosystem that will contribute to the international competitiveness of Ukrainian science.

Oksana DMYTRIIEVA, Doctor of Economics, Professor at Kharkiv National Automobile and Highway University, focused on digital technologies in the economic analysis of innovative development of road transport, justifying the importance of implementing modern digital solutions to improve the efficiency of the industry. In particular, she examined the possibilities of using big data, artificial intelligence and automated monitoring systems to optimise traffic flows and reduce operating costs and stressed the need to integrate digital technologies into strategic planning for the development of road infrastructure, which will help improve road safety, environmental sustainability and competitiveness of the transport industry in the context of global digital transformation.

Nataliia KUZMYNCHUK, Doctor of Economics, Professor of the Department of Marketing, Management and Entrepreneurship at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, in her report focused on the importance of human capital development as a key factor in the sustainability of communities in the process of European integration. She stressed that partnership between educational institutions, business and the public sector is a prerequisite for creating opportunities for professional development, adapting the workforce to new economic realities and increasing the competitiveness of regions. The speaker emphasised that investments in education, digital skills and entrepreneurship are strategically important for the formation of an innovative economy and the effective use of the potential of Ukrainian communities in the European space.

Another important aspect of the discussion was the issue of adaptive leadership in modern organisations, which was covered in her report by Tetiana LEPEIKO, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Head of the Department of Management, Business and Administration at Simon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics. In her presentation “Leading through Generation: Crafting Adaptive Leadership Styles for Modern Enterprises”, she focused on the need to implement flexible management approaches in an unstable economic environment. She discussed practical aspects of developing adaptive leadership styles that allow businesses to respond effectively to the challenges of global transformation and build competitive business models.

Special attention was drawn to the speech of Viktoriia KHAUSTOVA, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Director of the Research Centre for Industrial Problems of Development of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, on the topic “Ukrainian Industry under the Influence of External Shocks: State, Changes, Prospects”. She provided an in-depth analysis of the challenges faced by Ukraine's industrial sector due to the war, global economic instability and changing supply chains. In her presentation, Professor Khaustova outlined possible ways for the industry to adapt to the new environment, including through modernisation of production facilities, diversification of foreign trade relations and introduction of innovative approaches to risk management in industrial enterprises.

Yuliia US, PhD in Economics, Professor at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, discussed the prospects of implementing a compliance management system in the context of the integration processes of Ukraine's economy, emphasising the importance of compliance with corporate responsibility and business transparency standards. She emphasised that an effective compliance strategy is not only a requirement of international regulators, but also a key factor in building trust between business, government and consumers. She also emphasised the need to introduce modern digital tools to automate risk management and compliance monitoring processes, which will allow Ukrainian companies to adapt to EU standards faster and strengthen their position in global markets.

The conference has become an important scientific platform for discussing key challenges of economic development, integration of the Ukrainian economy into global processes, digital transformation, support for small businesses and implementation of innovative management approaches. The results and recommendations obtained will be used to improve management practices, formulate economic policy and further research in this area.

Following the conference, a collection of abstracts will be published containing the results of the participants' research and scientific recommendations.
