Representatives of the ERI UEPA took part in the kick-off meeting of the ERASMUS+ CBHE project EUComplianceM4UA at the Hochschule Wismar (Germany)

 

The delegation of Karazin University consisting of the Head of the International Relations Department Iryna SHTEIMILLER, Deputy Head of the International Relations Department Roman NESTERENKO, Professor Maryna Vasylieva, Deputy Director of the ERI “Ukrainian Engineering Pedagogics Academy”, and Yuliia DUDNIEVA, Associate Professor of the Department of Economics and Management, took part in the kick-off meeting of the international project EUComplianceM4UA “Implementation of the European Approach of Compliance Management in Higher Education in Ukraine” on 20-23 January 2025, which took place at Hochschule Wismar - University of Applied Sciences, Technology, Business and Design (Wismar, Germany). The event brought together representatives of universities and partner organisations from Ukraine, Germany, Portugal, Czech Republic and Poland.

The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss the key work packages and tasks of the project, as well as to get acquainted with the partners' competencies in compliance management. The programme of the event included a series of seminars and workshops covering legal and regulatory aspects of compliance, business ethics, conduct, and modern management practices in this area.

The meeting was an important step in the implementation of the Erasmus+ project aimed at developing compliance management in Ukraine and sharing best European practices in this area.

Highlights of the visit included a visit to the City Hall of the Hanseatic City of Wismar and a meeting with the Mayor Thomas Beyer and his assistants, as well as a training session with Tobias Ruppert, Compliance Officer of Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks & Plant Wörth.

The cultural and social programme of the visit included a tour of the Hochschule Wismar campus, a brief introduction to the cities of Wismar and Schwerin, as well as a visit to Schwerin Castle, the former main residence of the Grand Dukes of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, which now houses the Landtag of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and a museum.

The EUComplianceM4UA project focuses on the implementation of a European approach to compliance management with the strategic goal of raising the level of academic integrity, international management, entrepreneurship, business ethics and legal aspects in less experienced Ukrainian higher education institutions (HEIs).

The aim of the project is to improve teaching and assessment mechanisms in higher education institutions with a focus on quality assurance, governance, anti-bribery, and innovation in line with EU compliance standards.

The EUComplianceM4UA project at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University will be implemented on the basis of the Centre for Innovative Educational Technologies of the Education and Research Institute “Ukrainian Engineering Pedagogics Academy” in cooperation with the Department of Economics and Management of the ERI UEPA and the Department of Marketing and Commercial Entrepreneurship of the ERI UEPA.

The head of the EUComplianceM4UA project working group at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University is Maryna Vasylieva, Deputy Director of the ERI “Ukrainian Engineering Pedagogics Academy”, Professor of the Department of Pedagogy, Methodology and Management of Education, and the project manager (coordinator) is Roman Nesterenko, Deputy Head of the International Relations Department.

Main activities of the project:

 

- improving the capabilities and capacity of academic staff to teach and research in the field of compliance management;

- development of courses for master's students of 5 Ukrainian HEIs to improve their competencies, skills and employability;

- preparation and publication of an electronic, interactive manual “Compliance Management”;

- creating an open micro-certified short-term programme in compliance management for business managers to ensure better alignment with labour market needs;

- promoting digital transformation in compliance management education in Ukraine through innovative tools such as e-books, podcasts, videos and gamification solutions.

The University will continue to take an active part in implementing initiatives aimed at improving the level of compliance management and implementing European standards in the educational space of Ukraine.
