Participation of the ERI UEPA representative in the PACT4Ukraine project event at the Friedrich-Alexander University (Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany)

Yuliia DUDNIEVA, Associate Professor of the Department of Economics and Management of the Educational and Research Institute ‘Ukrainian Engineering Pedagogics Academy’ of Karazin University, took part in the scientific atelier ‘Empowerment of Women and Girls in Ukrainian Higher Education Institutions in the Context of the Ongoing Crisis: Analysing Inequalities and Stereotypes’ at the Friedrich-Alexander University (Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany).

This event is a key component of the PACT4Ukraine project (Piloting an Academic Corridor in Teaching & Learning for Ukraine), which has been implemented since 2022.

The Atelier brought together female teachers, researchers and experts committed to studying and overcoming gender challenges in Ukrainian higher education.

The fruitful discussion during this event allowed to shed light on the problems faced by female students, teachers, researchers and staff in the educational process, experiencing discrimination and overcoming gender barriers in the context of the protracted crisis in Ukraine; to determine to what extent gender stereotypes are still influential in higher education institutions; to identify the main causes and consequences of violations of women's rights in higher education and to develop specific recommendations in the form of a roadmap for improving institutional policies and practices aimed at supporting women's rights in higher education.

The PACT4Ukraine project (Piloting an Academic Corridor in Teaching & Learning for Ukraine) was launched at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) in September 2022. The project's activities are aimed at supporting both Ukrainian higher education institutions and Ukrainian students and teachers. Currently, more than 13 Ukrainian universities are working closely with the project, including those that have been displaced. Over the past two years, PACT4Ukraine has organised summer schools, conferences, test centres, workshops, and roundtables aimed at supporting Ukrainian students and academics. One of the main objectives of the project is to facilitate the formation of research tandems between Ukrainian researchers and FAU researchers.
