Deputy Director of the ERI “UEPA”, Professor Maryna VASYLIEVA, took part in a three-day short-term professional development programme entitled “Youth Policy and Youth Work” held at the Simon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics from 19 to 21 December.
Over the course of three days, participants worked to deepen their understanding of youth policy, analysed current challenges and tools for youth work, discussed intersectorality and the integration of youth policy/youth work topics into university education programmes, and created their own teaching materials for students. The programme included sessions on the history and current state of youth policy, generational theory, the work of youth centres and youth councils, as well as a workshop on creating your own classes in higher education institutions.
It was particularly valuable to meet and collaborate with teachers, education administrators, trainers, and representatives of Ukraine's youth sector — a community that is shaping new standards and approaches to working with young people.
We would like to express our gratitude to all the programme trainers, in particular: Vira Usyk, Maryna Popatenko, Vladyslav Yatsuk and Zakharii Tkachuk — for their profound insights, professional expertise and inspiration. We would also like to thank the S. Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics for providing a welcoming venue and creating comfortable learning conditions.
Advanced training courses for teachers of higher education institutions on “Youth Policy and Youth Work” are held as part of the project “Youth Participation and Policy: Strengthening Youth Engagement, Governance, Budgeting and Life Skills Development in Lviv, Volyn and Zakarpattia Regions”, implemented by the “Youth Platform” NGO with the assistance of UNICEF and financial support from the German Government through the state development bank KfW.
