On 22-23 November 2024, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Information Computer Technologies and Mathematics of the ERI “Ukrainian Engineering Pedagogics Academy” of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University Tetiana BONDARENKO took part in the training “Fundamentals of Ukrainian-American Academic Partnerships”, which was supported by the US Department of State's Education USA network. The event was held at the Avalon Palace Hotel in Ternopil.
The main goal of the training was to introduce and actively engage Ukrainian teachers in the implementation of COIL projects, which are currently being implemented in the teaching practices of American and Ukrainian universities. The training programme included a workshop on “Understanding National Culture and its Impact on Business Practices”, conducted by Artem KLIUCHNYKOV, PhD in Organisational Leadership from Regent University, USA. The speaker leads large-scale research projects that focus on intercultural aspects of leadership.
The second day of the training was devoted to the topics “Culture, Trust and Collaboration” and “Designing Culturally Responsive COIL Content”, which was conducted by Hope WINDLE, Director of the SUNY COIL Center for International Virtual Exchange and Teaching of Instructional Design.
The training participants also learnt about effective COIL practices at Sumy State University and Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University.
Nataliia HRYNKO, Project Manager of Education USA Ukraine, and Yuliia PISKORSKA, Coordinator of the Bridge USA: UAFP/UPRR in Ukraine of the American Council for International Education, effectively encouraged the training participants to implement COIL projects in their universities, as such programmes open up new opportunities for cooperation with American partner universities, effective intercultural communication with teachers and students, and development prospects in various fields of science and education.
