N. Karazin Kharkiv National University has been granted the status of a UNEVOC Centre and has become the only university in Ukraine to be represented in the global UNESCO-UNEVOC network — the leading international platform in the field of technical and vocational education and training (TVET).
The UNEVOC Centre at Karazin University, which operates within the Centre for Innovative Educational Technologies at the Education and Research Institute “Ukrainian Engineering and Pedagogical Academy”, was officially presented during an online ceremony to inaugurate and onboard new members of the network.
Karazin University was represented at the event by Professor Maryna Vasylieva, Deputy Director of the ERI “Ukrainian Engineering and Pedagogical Academy” and Head of the UNEVOC Centre, and Roman Nesterenko, Deputy Head of the International Relations Department at Karazin University and Coordinator of the UNEVOC Centre.
The ceremony brought together new UNEVOC Centres from around the world that joined the network in 2025–2026. Karazin University’s UNEVOC Centre was presented in the category “Research Institutes & University / UNEVOC Centre + UNESCO Chair/UniTwin”, which highlights its status as one of the leading university and research institutions involved in the development of modern vocational education and training. The event aimed to introduce new network members, discuss strategic priorities for the development of TVET, and identify areas for international cooperation, knowledge exchange and the implementation of joint initiatives.
Being granted UNEVOC Centre status represents significant international recognition of Karazin University’s expertise in the fields of vocational, teacher training and innovative education. Participation in the network opens up new opportunities for the university to integrate into the global expert community and to develop partnerships with leading universities, research institutions and international organisations.
For Karazin University, this means strengthening its capacity to participate in international educational and research projects, initiate joint research, implement innovative educational technologies, and develop micro-credentials and professional development programmes. At the same time, the university gains an additional platform for showcasing Ukrainian expertise at an international level, promoting national educational priorities and engaging international partners in the processes of reforming and modernising education in Ukraine.
This step takes on particular significance in the context of the country’s post-war recovery, when high-quality vocational education, the development of human capital and innovative educational solutions are key factors in economic resilience and sustainable development.
The Centre for Innovative Educational Technologies at the ERI “Ukrainian Engineering and Pedagogical Academy” serves as the institutional platform for the activities of the UNEVOC Centre at Karazin University, bringing together the university’s scientific and educational potential, modern digital solutions and international project expertise.
Participation in the global UNESCO-UNEVOC network consolidates V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University’s position as one of the leaders in the transformation of vocational education in Ukraine and opens up new horizons for international cooperation, innovation and sustainable development.
