Throughout May and June 2026, an in-person practical training course is being held in the safe environment of the ERI “Ukrainian Engineering and Pedagogical Academy” of Karazin University, in the laboratories of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Power Engineering, for students studying the following specialties: 141 Electrical Engineering and 015. 35 Vocational Education (Energy).
First-year students practise basic skills in working with electrical equipment, as well as drawing up basic control circuits for electric motors and electro-pneumatic actuators in industrial automated systems.
The workshop programme is based on material from the following modules:
“Introduction to the Subject” (Associate Professor Artem Cherniuk);
“Introduction to the Subject and Work-based Learning” (Associate Professor Veronika Bakatanova, Associate Professor Artem Cherniuk, Assistant Lecturer Serhii Voitenko);
“Theoretical Foundations of Electrical Engineering” (Associate Professor Anatolii Tarasenko, Hanna Mosiienko).
Around 40 per cent of all students on these degree programmes have already joined the in-person practical sessions, and this process is ongoing. Classes are held in small groups and are by prior registration only, in accordance with the air-raid alert protocol. The laboratories are located in a shelter building and have a backup power supply.
In this way, the Department of Electrical Engineering and Power Engineering is testing a new format for the learning process in a frontline city, which will enable the high-quality development of theoretical knowledge and practical skills among future specialists in the Ukrainian energy industry and the energy education sector.
