V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University has been granted the status of a UNEVOC Centre within the UNESCO-UNEVOC network — a global platform of UNESCO dedicated to technical and vocational education and training (TVET). The decision was officially announced in March 2026, and the Centre has been included in the international UNEVOC directory.
At the same time, a key role in the functioning of the Centre will be played by the Education and Research Institute “Ukrainian Engineering and Pedagogical Academy” (ERI “UEPA”), as the UNEVOC Centre will operate on the basis of the Center for Innovative Educational Technologies (CIET) of ERI “UEPA”. This institutional foundation reflects the Institute’s long-standing expertise in training educators for vocational education, implementing innovative educational solutions, and developing modern approaches to teaching and learning.
The Centre will be headed by Dr. Maryna Vasylieva, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences and Deputy Director of the Education and Research Institute “Ukrainian Engineering and Pedagogical Academy”. Her academic and organisational work focuses on modern pedagogy, educational leadership, organisational culture, and innovative educational practices, fully aligned with the priorities of the UNEVOC network.
The activities of the UNEVOC Centre will be grounded in the scientific and educational potential of ERI “UEPA”, which has significant experience in the field of vocational education. The Centre’s key areas of work include teacher training for the TVET system, digitalisation of education and implementation of modern learning technologies, development of competencies aligned with labour market needs, introduction of micro-credentials and new learning formats, and strengthening international cooperation in the field of TVET.
The Centre will also serve as a platform for supporting educational reforms, developing human capital, and contributing to Ukraine’s recovery processes, which are particularly relevant under current conditions.
Joining the UNEVOC network opens new opportunities for ERI “UEPA” and Karazin University, including participation in global UNESCO initiatives, integration into a network of more than 250 UNEVOC Centres worldwide, exchange of best practices with leading institutions, development of new international partnerships and projects, and strengthening collaboration between education, business, and government.
Obtaining UNEVOC Centre status is an important recognition of the contribution of the Education and Research Institute “Ukrainian Engineering and Pedagogical Academy” to the development of vocational education and confirms its role as one of the leading hubs of educational innovation in Ukraine.
