Presentation of the results of the British Council's project roadmap for the career development of women leaders in higher education in Ukraine

 

Maryna Vasylieva, Deputy Director of the Education and Research Institute "Ukrainian Engineering and Pedagogical Academy” of Karazin University, took part in the presentation of the results of the project "A Career Roadmap for Women Leadership in Higher Education in Ukraine”, which is being implemented as part of the British Council's Going Global Partnerships programme of gender equality projects.
The event took place on 26 March at the national news agency Ukrinform. The organisers were: "Innovation Generation” NGO, Simon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics, and V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. The presentation discussed:

- barriers and challenges faced by women leaders in higher education in Ukraine and the UK;
- finding ways to expand opportunities for women scientists and women leaders in higher education;
- an overview of the roadmap for the career development of women leaders in higher education in Ukraine;
- opportunities to promote women's leadership capacity building in Ukrainian higher education institutions.

The event was moderated by Roman Nesterenko, Deputy Head of the Department of International Relations at V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.
The aim of the project is to identify barriers and challenges faced by women leaders in higher education in Ukraine and the UK, as well as to contribute to capacity building of Ukrainian higher education institutions and expand opportunities for women scientists and women leaders in higher education by developing a career roadmap ‘Women Leaders in Higher Education’, taking into account gender aspects, cultural and socio-political context of Ukraine, and subject areas of research.
