Within the TEX4YUA project - Sustainable Excellence of Ukrainian Youth in the Textile and Apparel Industry, implemented within the Swedish Institute SI Baltic Sea Neighbourhood Programme, the first study visit of representatives of the project partners from Ukraine, namely the Ukrainian Engineering Pedagogics Academy of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University; ‘Innovation Generation’ NGO (Kharkiv) and Lutsk National Technical University, took place.
The participants of the visit from V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University were Oleh Lytvyn, Acting Head of the Department of Food Technologies, Light Industry and Design of the ERI UEPA of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, and Roman Nesterenko, Deputy Head of the Department of International Relations of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.
Borås University has over 18,000 students and more than 800 employees. The Swedish School of Textiles is a part of the university.
The programme of the visit included a roundtable discussion with the management of the Textile Technologies Department. The main trends in the development of the modern textile industry and educational programmes in the field of textile technology were discussed. Ways of cooperation between Ukraine and Sweden were outlined to jointly create new modern educational components for teaching Ukrainian and Swedish youth. Such cooperation will raise awareness among young people and contribute to the creation of new technologies for the manufacture of textile products.
The visit included visits to textile and polymer laboratories (yarn, weaving, knitting, dyeing and printing, clothing, research and testing).
During the visit, they also met with Professor Nawar Kadi (research at the University and future cooperation).
Participated in a seminar on digital tools for textile education (Dr Sveta Iyer) and visited a virtual laboratory.
They visited Svensson, one of the most dynamic and innovative companies in Europe. Established in 1887, Svensson is a global market leader in the production of innovative material for professional greenhouse cultivation.
Among the company`s developments:
- NordShield BioLayr finish, which creates an invisible barrier against bacteria without changing its properties and appearance;
- acoustic fabrics or different shades, textures and noise levels;
- flame retardant, washable polyester and wool upholstery fabrics, with different textures in a wide range of colours, with interesting designs and high requirements for functionality and durability.
The Ukrainian delegation also visited the Textile Museum.
